Sport
Helping your child get the most out of sport.
Supporting a child in competitive sport is its own job. Sporting parent workshops cover the pressure, the disappointment, effective encouragement, the balance with school and how to talk to coaches.
Parents can also request a one-to-one appointment for their athlete to work through a specific sporting situation.
“Lorraine is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly has a huge amount of experience in understanding the world of competitive sport for children and young people, both professionally and through her own family's experience with her children. Climbing wasn't a sport she already knew inside out, but she took the time to learn about it and understand the particular demands of competitive climbing. We really appreciated the effort she put into understanding our daughter's sport rather than making assumptions based on other sports. I particularly liked the way Lorraine brought things back to brain development. Understanding the reasons behind some of what our daughter was experiencing was really helpful for all of us and made her advice feel grounded, evidence-based and practical. One of the things we valued most was how holistic Lorraine's approach was. Our daughter's needs were always at the centre, but Lorraine also recognised how important our role as parents was in supporting her. She worked with my husband and me to look at what we could do differently, right down to the language we were using and how we responded in certain situations. It has also been wonderful to see our daughter becoming more confident. Even after her first session, we noticed a difference in her confidence, and we have no doubt that Lorraine's support contributed to the fantastic results she recently achieved at a competition. We are so grateful for Lorraine's support and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to other young athletes and their families.”

What people say
“From a personal point of view as a parent, I found the session extremely impactful. I learned more about my own children - why they love their sport, what motivates them in their own words, and how some of the things we say to be supportive don't always have the effect we intend. I also really appreciated the clear, practical steps that families were encouraged to take away, particularly around promoting responsibility and independence through committing to small, achievable actions.”
“After an evening workshop with parents and athletes together we had lots of very positive feedback both from parents with children in GB squads and those playing school sport. I personally went home feeling very enlightened.”
